Dissociative identity disorder is a label for overt and verbal behaviors.

This 3-hour webinar will be held August 5, 2022 at 11:00 am ET. This is a FREE EVENT! Only pay for CEUs!

Dissociative identity disorder can be seen as changes in overt behaviors and verbal behaviors. By identifying the behavioral changes and some putative behavioral mechanisms responsible for these changes, we can come to an understanding that neither the person themselves nor their self  reflect “dissociation.” Instead we can discriminate that the behavioral repertoire is altered and possibly described as “dissociated.”

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the changes in the concept of MPD/DID over the various editions of the DSM.

  2. Identify the two models that are put forth to explain the behaviors of DID, the PTM or Post Trauma Model and the SCM or SocioCognitive Model.

  3. Identify the facts that the initial presentation of the behaviors of DID are difficult to discriminate but become more apparent as conventional therapy progresses.

  4. Differentiate the behaviors of DID as overt behaviors and complex verbal behavior

  5. Differentiate the behavioral principles and contingencies implicit in the SCM and the PTM.
